The Baltic Social's New Menu

The Baltic Social

The Liverpool Independent scene is on the up and up, particularly when it comes to independent restaurants. Liverpool has flourished into a very modern city, with a whole range of options to suit even the fussiest of eaters.

I've been to The Baltic Social only once before for breakfast. When they launched their new menu and Danielle invited me along with her, I thought it would be nice to try their new dinner offerings.

As you've probably guessed, The Baltic Social sits within the Baltic Triangle, an up and coming area within Liverpool. Considering that it is a little off the beaten track, and on the outskirts of the City Centre, it was still super busy the night we went!

The Baltic Social kind of strikes me as a bit of a 'Hipster Paradise'. None of the chairs match, there are old cinema seats by the entrance, a record player, and neon signs behind the bar. Don't get me wrong, the decor is incredibly charming and very akin to a lot of new bars in Liverpool and Manchester, but this wasn't somewhere I'd normally consider for an evening meal.

The new menu has a range of sides, starters, mains, and desserts. I decided to opt for a starter of nachos, and a chicken and avocado burger for my main. The portions were a great size, and the guacamole on my nachos was amazing. Danielle went for macaroni and cheese with halloumi fries, which looked like a cheesy haven.

Since I was going all out, I decided to have an 'Ice Cream Burger' for dessert. It came with churros and chocolate sauce, which was delicious, but the burger was another story. It came with frozen raspberries, vanilla ice cream, and the cookies were practically frozen, so I did struggle to eat it. I probably wouldn't order this again, but the churros definitely deserve to be a dish by themselves!

All in all, I had a great night and the food was fabulous. I came away practically waddling! There's a lot going in the Baltic Triangle these days, and I want to start making more of an effort to go down there more. This would be a great place to stop after visiting Ghetto Golf, of The Baltic Food Market!

Have you ever been to The Baltic Social before? What did you think?
